'Grown Men Cried,' said the Financial Times. Those who witnessed a David Thomas and two pale boys gig experienced journeys through music; each concert unique, each concert presented as an exploration of just what can be achieved. David Thomas and Keith Moline (Pere Ubu) were accompanied by Andy Diagram on trumpet, his instrument used as a second voice that carried a calm - or chaos - that is unlike anything heard before. They have not toured for many years but are opening the next Pere Ubu show, February 2022, in a one-off celebration of their unique sound. Also available for download are uncompressed WAV files.
Original Liner notes and band photo included as bonus items with the download.

    The Sunday Times "Ceaselessly inventive"
Time Out "A gloriously garrulous, diffidently divine, pumping, wheezy, melodeon-driven, contemporised avant-folk... Twisted and inspired, it is like everything and nothing you've ever heard, [they] are now creating a whole new kind of strange and affecting beauty."
Selected Best of The Edinburgh Festival 1998, Music.

Meadville, population 13,000, is a town in northwestern Pennsylvania, about forty miles due south of Erie. It gave birth to the Talon Zipper company and actress Sharon Stone. It is the home of Channellock Tools and Dad’s Dog Food.
Meadville is about fifteen miles north of the Thomas family farm in Utica, Pennsylvania, and where David’s brother lives. Many of the songs on two pale boys and some Pere Ubu albums were written on the roads and highways surrounding it, including ‘Weird Cornfields,’ ‘Ghosts,’ ‘The River,
‘Golden Surf,’ ‘Nobody Knows,’ ‘Woolie Bullie,’ and others.
Meadville
French Creek flows through Meadville. It was an important ‘highway’ between the British forts on Lake Erie and the French fort in Pittsburgh. George Washington, as an officer in the British Army, traveled it with a handful of men in the French And Indian War of 1767 to displace the French. He got to Pittsburgh and said to the commanding officer there,We think you should surrender to me now or I’ll have to return with more men and take this place by force. The French surrendered.
