No less glossy but a little less pricey, this is the paperback, black and white version of the companion book, 'Long Live Pere Ubu, The Spectacle.' In 2008, at London's South Bank Centre, Pere Ubu performed Bring Me The Head Of Ubu Roi for two nights, with Sarah Jane Morris. It was brutal. So brutal that when an audience member became sick an an ambulance had to be called, people believed it was part of the performance. 'Long Live Pere Ubu, The Spectacle.' is the book that finally documents this extraordinary rock opera, with the history, the methodology, the stage directions, costume requirements, dance routines, the script, the reviews, the animations and the photos in full colour. The performances would undergo many adaptations to facilitate various venues, various band members and - ultimately - the chaos that would inevitable ensue. Never before (?) has a band undertaken the rock opera from its inception, to it's stage production, to its performance and endeavouring every task themselves from stage management, directing, orchestration and even selling the merch from the stage afterwards. Ubu is unique. Always.
